Artist Spotlight: Ryan Blackburn

Ryan Blackburn lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife, two kids, dog, two cats, two rats and a hamster. His life never has a dull moment! He’s had a very eclectic background, doing a little bit of everything either as a hobby or for work. Despite a life with a little of everything, his one constant is a love for art and music in its many forms.

12 years ago, around the same time his daughter was born, Ryan acquired his first camera. As with every hobby and interest he’s had, he dove in head first to learn everything he could. Those skills and interests have found a home in the world of street photography.

Before he began shooting with his current style, he was always intrigued by the look and feel of street photographs. While looking for more opportunities to use his camera and advance his skills, he tried his own hand at street photography and quickly developed a love for it.

Ryan loves the way street photography has transformed the daily grind. It makes him slow down and appreciate the world surrounding him and the people within it. He presents his subjects in ways that reflect this appreciation, all while preserving the delicacy of their moment in time. His colors are strong and composed with high-contrast light. It’s the same light and colors we see on a day-to-day basis, but often, we’re just too busy to notice.
